I guess I'm nice...

Deakon and I just had this convo:

Hey Mom.

You went upstairs and got me food (popcorn) and gave it to me while I was watching cartoons???

"Yep"

It's nice to do that.

For the Grandma-mas

Hey Grandmas, here are some videos I took this morning to document 7 weeks. I tried to make him smile, but had no luck. :( I still think he is pretty cute though!

The weekend...

Just noticed that I didn't quite finish my bottle of Pepsi from last night. I picked it up and took a drink as Deakon came running across the room yelling,

"I didn't eat gluten, TRUST ME."

Me: "Yes you did. You just had Cheerios"

D: "Oh..." *fake cry*

Did he really just say, trust me? Oh Deakon, where do you learn these things? Oh ya, from your OCD gluten-free mommy who won't share a drink with you and your gluten lips. When I was first diagnosed my sister, Meri, wrote a little didly on her blog (Sister in Denial) where she compared gluten to that movie you had to watch in health where they show somebody sneezing and where all of the droplets land in fluorescent colors. I think about that ALL the time... it does make me feel a bit like a crazy person. Deakon and I have like 5 conversations about gluten everyday. Most of which are Deakon trying to share food with me and me explaining why I can't eat it. Yesterday he was pretending to make sandwiches (he loves to pretend to make/bake food) and he made me a "special one with no gluten" So funny.

Ok, so on to the real post- this past weekend. Friday night I went to a Relief Society get together. It was fun to get out of the house and hang out with the ladies all night. When I got home Kyle and I had the following conversation"

"How was your night?"

"Fine"

"What did you and Deak do?"

"Nothing"

"So... you watched cartoons all night?"

"No"

"Ok..."

I flipped the hall light on and tip toed into Deakon's room to check on him and give him a kiss. That is when I saw this:

My child's hair buzzed with steps shaved into the side... Apparently, Kyle decided to get the razor down and do a little artwork. Why did I leave them alone????? Just kidding, it's not really terrible. I would have chosen a professional to do it, but hair grows back right?

This picture of Nixon is from a little earlier that day when I was doing my hair. I guess they put seat belts in these little chairs for a reason:

Saturday we got up at the crack of dawn (ok, just me. I didn't want to clean Friday night, so I went EARLY Saturday morning) to head to Edmonton for the day. Are we a little crazy driving 3 hours each way to go hang out at West Edmonton Mall and the outlets? Maybe. I don't really have any complaints. When there is nothing but the open road in front of us, Kyle and I have some of the best conversations. We talk about the future and tell dumb stories from our past. We picked a baby boy name if we decide to have another one and came up with things we did in high school that we had never told each other. We talk about family and friends and goals and dreams(oh how I wish we could win the lottery...) It was the best 6 hours we have spent together in a long time. Having a new baby can easily put a huge wall up between couple and I really needed this reconnection time. I didn't take too many pictures at West Ed, mostly because Deakon was being a stinker about getting his picture taken and we all know how Kyle photographs (ha, sorry babe!). Here are the few that I took:

Eating lunch. Right as I took the picture, Deakon decided it would be a good idea to lick this guy. GROSS... he pretty much got chewed out afterwards. Seriously gross.

Almost everytime we passed the skating rink we stopped so Deakon could watch. Oh yes, there is a skating rink in the middle of the mall. Oh, and a sea lion show, huge pirate ships on display in water, an amusement park, water park, mini golf, oh, and like 100 million stores. We didn't even see half of the mall in several hours.

Bob the builder:

We went with J&J. I didn't put up the only pictures that I have of them because Kyle took some awkward pictures of them licking ice cream cones. Ha ha, maybe I should have just for a laugh. ;)

Oh the way home we really started noticing that besides Deakon being absolutely exhausted, he is getting a cold. No fun. It was a bit of a long night with a sick boy and a baby so Sunday morning was a bit of a gong show. I FINALLY made it to church for the last hour (we had a special relief society meeting so the young women did Primary). Had a really good ham dinner with the fam and finished the night off with "A Walk to Remember" I love that movie...

6 weeks...

Deakon and I having fun with the webcam...

Nixon is 6 weeks today... wow that went by fast... and yet so slow. We were supposed to all have appt's today, but the silly doctor didn't show so we had to reschedule. Darn. I was really looking forward to seeing the stats on my boys. Anywho, here are some pics from this week. You know how I like my pictures! Rocking it out with Dad's glasses:

This morning in the bath:
Just as I got ready to take pics, he spit up down his shirt, oh well:

Milestones...

Nixon smiled this morning... so cute. I think he felt bad for being up all night. It wasn't REALLY his fault. The boys have stuffy/runny noses which make my life harder.

We went to a friends house for supper last night so I gave the boys a bath. Deakon was really good at the grocery store earlier so I bought him a transformers pez dispenser. He ate the candy in like 5 seconds, but carried it around all day and BEGGED to bring it into the bath. Right after getting Nixon all washed up and out, I heard a confused yelp come out of Deakon. My head shot up just in time to see his you-know-what stuck in the pez dispenser... FUNNIEST THING EVER!!! Ha ha ha... I am laughing right now. Silly boy. (He got it out right away... I am not a mean mom- no permanent damage was done)

Deaky-B

So... ever since we hit the darned deer a few months ago, Deakon has become OBSESSED with talking about and searching for deer everytime we are in the car. (see the quote on the side about wanting to be a deer when he "gets bigger") He asks a million questions about where they live, what they eat, what kind of blankets the use, where their friends are, what kind of friends they have... the list could go on and on and on. Saturday night after we enjoyed a yummy meal catered to my gluten-freeness at Pizzaberg in Okotoks with J&J we drove home and Deakon started in on the deer. (I want to hurt whoever put a million deer crossing signs on the side of the road) This was the best comment from the drive:

"Do the deers live in the salad?"

"Pardon???"

"Do the deers live in the salad?"

"Oh, do you mean forest?"

"Ya"

Nixon's Blessing

Sunday was Nix's blessing. We got up early to fix a few last minute things for our little lunch afterwards and got ready. Here is Nixon in his cute little outfit. What's with the bib??? Oh, if you haven't met our babies, then you don't know about the excessive spitting... Whenever I put a cute outfit on and we are heading anywhere, the bib must be worn until we are actually at the event. :) It works, so we do it. Sadly... I didn't think to take a normal pic of his outfit and it doesn't really show much in any of the pictures so after we will have to do a little photo shoot before he grows out of it.

So, we got to church early... which probably hasn't happened since Deakon was born. Kyle gave an awesome blessing and it was really great to have so many of our friends and family there. I absolutely love listening to Kyle give blessings. His voice sounds completely calm, soothing, gentle, and full of love- especially as he has blessed our boys. The guys that helped: Kyle, Ron, Scott, Glen, Dan, Andrew, Jason, and Tyler. I better ask Kyle if I am forgetting anyone... my memory is def not the best these days. So, funny story. During the opening prayer Nix was sending out some major sounds. I looked at Kyle and appologized thinking that he had filled his pants and Kyle would have to take him up there to stink up the whole place. Well, turns out it was just gas. BUT... he did take a nice big, loud poop during the blessing and every hand got to feel it! All the guys were red faced and trying not to laugh as they rushed back to their seats and Kyle grabbed the diaper bag and took off.
Afterwards, we went back to our place for some yummy food. Thank you everyone, especially Ron and Doreen, for bringing food!

And some cute pics of his fatness. I weighed myself and them him this morning (he is 5 weeks today) and he weighs approx. 13 lbs. We all have Dr. appts. next Thursday. I never took Deak in for his 3 year and Nix and I will go in for our 6 week so we will have real numbers for both boys then. This side shot is to shot his nice big belly:

Eva's Birthday/Nixon 4.5 weeks

Monday night we celebrated Eva's birthday. Her real birthday was Sunday, but we stole the day away with Nix's blessing (post to come soon). I figured it was fair game since they stole my birthday for their wedding last year! Happy Birthday Eva and enjoy some pics I took of Nixon- he is getting bigger everyday... and although he is gassy and fussy, we still love him!

Love this cut outfit! Nixon is wearing 3-6 month clothes already:

April Birthdays are AWESOME

Without meaning to toot my own horn... oh wait, yes I am. April birthdays are the best! We started off the celebrations with Nix, 3 days later his itty bitty baby cousin Kamryn was born (Happy Easter!), then Marilyn's is the 24th, and we round out the month with... no one other than... ME on the 25th! Marilyn and Kirsten planned a little trip out to Calgary to see the new babies and we had a fun BBQ at Stacey's on Marilyn's birthday. We had so much fun seeing everyone and hanging out with the fam. Deakon and Brodie (6 months apart) ran around like wild indians and had a blast. Besides the INCHES and INCHES of naughty snow, it was a fantastic night.
Nana and Nixon- he was totally into her! Check out that stare:

Brodie's turn:
It was great to see you guys! Please come again :)
Sunday morning I was sooooooooo looking forward to sleeping in, but alas, Kyle had to run to the church for an hour and a half first thing to shovel snow. BOO... oh wait, am I allowed to boo part of somebody's calling. I say yes. BOO AGAIN. I am still bitter about not getting my sleep in. Anyway, Kyle came home and gave me my birthday present. A new sony camera. Sweet! I am still trying to figure out the dumb settings though so tons of my pictures are NOT turning out... maybe I should just stop being lazy and read the dumb instructions. Decided to take some pics of Nixon at 3.5 weeks:

Doreen took Deak to church and Kyle and I got to chill and have some alone time... sad when alone time includes a small child. We had a fabulous dinner with roast, mashed taters, broccoli with it's infamous cheese sauce, and white cake with lemon icing. SO GOOD! I asked Kyle, followed by Bret to take some pics... let's just say there are some really good reasons why there aren't more... this was the best one even though Deakon isn't even looking and it def isn't the best angle for my beaver teeth:
Bret and Eva and Doreen got me yummy flowers:
And last, but definitely not least... SPIDERMAN:

Thanks for the wishes, calls, texts, gifts, and love for my entrance into the quarter century club!
