9 weeks

Highlights from the past week:

-We had our primary presentation yesterday and the kids sang GREAT!  Much to my relief after some awful practice sessions.  Deakon did so much better than he did at the practices.  He has known his lines for weeks and has no problem saying them... he just didn't want to sing or stand still or NOT play power rangers with the other boys in his class.  In the actual presentation I'm told he sang... mostly and stood still... mostly.  I'll take that.  His lines were "The scriptures are the word of God" and "I hope they call me on a mission"  He got mad at his teacher during all of the practices because she would try and help him.  "I KNOW MY WORDS!" was furiously whispered several times.  I was also told by him (during the songs on the practice Sunday before), "I hate singing."  "Can we please go to primary now?"  AND "Can I PLEASE have a piece of gum?"  Overall, I was very proud to be his Mommy yesterday.  He looked and sounded like a stud.
-Kyle and I went to see Breaking Dawn Part 1 on Saturday.  We took Quinn and she slept the whole time.  I got some dirty looks afterwards... and I might have shot them right back.  She didn't make one single peep the entire 2 hours.  It was fun to go out.
-Wednesday I dropped my boys off at Tanya's while I had the next 4 hours boy-free!  Quinn and I ran into Calgary to buy Deakon a new clock that changes colors when he can get out of bed (is working pretty well!), took a shower, and surprised Kyle outside of his work to pick him up and go to lunch.  It was awesome.  We used to do that 2-3 times a month when we lived in Utah on the days we both worked and we loved it.  I dropped him off and went to do some blood work and apply for Quinn's birth certificate before picking up the boys.
-We had our own little version of American Thanksgiving yesterday. (ok, we just made up an excuse to get together and eat)  We had ham, funeral potatoes, salad, sparkling juice, and cherry delight (no bake cheesecake).  It was so good and I ate way too much.  Kyle invited Justin and Jake Kerr to come eat and it was fun to have them.
-That is all I can remember... I have 10 minutes before big and little baby wake up so I am hopping in the shower!
 These boys love their sister!
This picture doesn't do it justice, but she has such a CUTE smile!  They are rare, but extremely satisfying!

Tried to get a picture of the cousins after our version of American Thanksgiving...  The dads were no help.

8 weeks

Quinn is now 8 weeks old and I can't believe it.  It has gone by so quickly.  I've decided that since I hardly have time to blog I would try and just do a weekly picture of the kids and some highlights of our week.

Kyle's Nana made this for Quinn (the boys each have one in blue) and I didn't take a picture of the boys in it so I made sure I got one of Quinn.  I thought for sure it might be too small, but it isn't and I am excited that she will fit into it for the next few months.

Even though I'm in my pjs and look asleep I wanted to put this picture because I hardly have any of the 2 of us.  I need to take more.

Nixon's BEFORE and AFTERS... I am a little sad I did it, but he is still stinkin cute.

Deakon and I had fun taking Quinn's weekly grandma photo.  He wanted a fun one and a serious one.  I love him.  He sure is handsome.

Highlights of our week:

-Kyle got a raise!  Yay!
-After 2 weeks of fighting sickness and daylight savings, Deakon has slept 3 nights ALL NIGHT in his bed.  Before that he would get up to pee, get a drink, make me blow his nose, "just lay by me for 1 minute", need his blankets adjusted, need tylenol, or he thought he heard someone breathing... uh, you do sleep with Nixon you know.  He has NEVER had a problem sleeping or getting out of bed so I hope this was just a fluke.
-We cut off Nixon's hair... bittersweet... might be growing it back real soon
-Pulled out the next size for Quinn.  She is around 11 lbs and the next size is 12-17 lbs, but I couldn't wait to get new stuff on her!
-I got to go to a baby shower (Kari's) and ladies night back to back!
-Quinn is smiling more and more.  First one was 2 weeks ago.
-Kyle and Deakon headed out for some one and one time and saw Puss in Boots.

My awesome friend Tanya with the help of other girls in the ward threw us a great shower.  It was so much fun.  The decorations were awesome.  I loved the black and pink theme.  The very best part was that EVERYTHING was gluten free!  Tanya made strawberry and chocolate fudge cupcakes (recipes courtesy of my sister, Meri's, blog www.glutenfreebetty.com) , wings, and jello popcorn (SOOOO good) with several other girls bringing chips and bean dip, muddy buddies, veggies, and fudgies.  I love to eat and it was simply incredible that I could every one... or maybe more... or everything.  Thanks friends.  You are the best!

Blessing Day & Halloween

Quinn's blessing was on Sunday October 30th and it was absolutely perfect!
She looked gorgeous and was happy all day.  Kyle gave her a beautiful blessing that was full of wonderful things and emotions.  No Kyle, I don't want to forget your tears as well as mine.  It was awesome.  I asked Doreen to write it down and she did a great job and typed it up all pretty like so we can have it forever.  It was great because my parents really wanted a copy because they couldn't be here.  Best part of the morning was when Kyle went back into the bathroom (he had already shaved and blushed his teeth and was dressed) when I was trying to finalize everybody being ready and I got a little ticked off and flung open the door only to see him kneeling on the ground praying.  I guess I was being too loud and taking over our room getting Quinn dressed and he needed somewhere quiet for a few minutes.  Oh course I felt terrible and quickly left.  He came out a few minutes later with a grin on his face and asked if that was weird for me.  I laughed.  It is exactly a Kyle thing to say.  I have to remember to post a story about my when my mom was here that included "is it weird that...."

Like I said earlier, the day was perfect.  We went shopping Saturday for all of the food for lunch afterwards (we did chicken taco soup and a potato soup along with sandwiches and desserts) and stayed up kind of late putting everything into the crock pots.  Quinn slept 4 1/2 hours and got up 5 minutes after my alarm had gone off to turn the soups on.  I got up 2 hours later and everyone was still asleep so I was all ready before anyone was up.  The boys ate, took baths, got dressed, and played happily.  Kyle was up and looking great and we had a few quick minutes to take pictures of the kids.  Sadly we didn't take any of us with the kids, or just us together, or us and Quinn.  Boo.  I was looking great too!  Eva blew out my hair Saturday night and I felt fantastic although nobody knew who I was at church... guess maybe I should wear my hair down more than once a year.  It was worth the compliments!  (I can say that... this is my blog)
We borrowed Ron's nice camera and I should have checked it out before the day of because I had it on a weird setting and so most of the pictures didn't turn out.  But the ones that did look great.  Here is Quinn with Papa Ron and Grandma Doreen.
We had a great lunch with family and friends!  It was fun to celebrate Quinn all over again.  We love her so much.  She is a miracle baby.  Seriously so good.  I love my little girl!

Sunday night we realized that we forgot to do pumpkins so the boys got to work.  Nixon and Deakon had fun drawing on one while Kyle gutted the other.

Halloween Day we had so much fun.  Deakon wore his costume all day and we had a great time at a Halloween party that Kyla from our ward put on at the church (separate post)  My Red Power Ranger, BMX biker, and Pumpkin were so cute.

Trick or treating was FREEZING... as per usual around here.  The boys had to wear their winter coats and I pushed Nixon and Quinn up and down our street for about 15 minutes.  Nixon only lasted maybe 8 houses... most of which he tried to enter.  I think he was tired and cold.  I took the babies home while Deakon grabbed some gloves and Kyle and he went out for a few more minutes.

Aiden came over to show off his cute costume!
And here are some random pictures from my phone that I forgot to move...

My blog is falling so far behind but our days FLY by.  We are so busy staying alive and happy.  I might just have to forget what I am behind on and start writing something everyday.  I don't want to forget all of this.  I am a happy mom and I love what I am doing.  I miss my sleep and my sanity, but I am so glad I am a mom!
