U of C game and BIRTHDAYS!!!

After we got home from Utah, we were still in the mood to do fun stuff. Most weekends when we get together with people, we usually end up at somebody's house watching a movie and chillin' (which we have NO problems with because it means we can put Deakon to bed and still hang out). We decided to do something different and after unsuccessfully getting a lane for bowling, we opted to go the the University of Calgary for a basketball game. It was a really good idea, until after the first 15 minutes when we were really regretting turning down Doreen's offer of keeping Deakon. Not that he wasn't into the game, he just didn't want to sit down and the game didn't start until 8. His bedtime is usually 8:30 and when he gets tired he GETS CRAZY busy. So Deakon and I spent most of the game running around the track that surrounds the court. I guess it wasn't too bad because I still got to watch, but it would have been nice to sit and catch up with the ladies. Ok, I'll be honest for Kyle's sake- I was pretty p'd off by the end!!! We would love to go again, BUT NO almost 3-year-olds ALLOWED!!! Anyway, here is one of the only pictures I was in the mood to take of my naughty, yet not really naughty boy. (I mean come on, all the other kids got to run around and see the mascot and get fifty billion drinks of water and play on the gym mats)
January 25th was Doreen's birthday so we put on a little family dinner for her. Kyle made some super yummy GF chicken parm and we had cake and hung out. In every single picture I took of Doreen, her eyes were closed. Naughty grandma. HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
Deakon helping blow out the candles:

Kyle turned the big 3-0 on Feb 16th!!! We ended up surprising him with dinner when he got home from work on Family Day (he was the only one out of all of us that had to work :( sorry babe) but it worked out because we had all day to shop and cook for the night. We yelled surprise when we walked in the door, which turned out to be pretty funny because from that angle you can't see the kitchen so he had no idea why I was sitting there taking a picture of him. Ha ha, it makes me laugh right now because we probably looked ridiculous.

Deakon and I went and bought balloons to tie to all of the chairs and we did a really cheesy job of decorating the chandelier with crepe paper. Ron and Doreen made a delicious prime rib with the fixins and Kyle's favorite cake: Carrot with raisins and cream cheese frosting.
Daddy and Deakon:
Kyle, Deak, and Bret:

After dinner, we pulled out the gifts. Deakon had picked out this hockey kinder surprise egg and immediately asked if he could eat it as soon as Kyle unwrapped it.
We got Kyle a remote for his PS3 and an appt. to go get a massage- notice Deakon stuffing his face with Dad's chocolate:
His last gift was a group gift from all of us (the parentals, B&E, and me). I have like 5 pictures of this because Bret wrapped it ever so nicely. The note said something to the effect of "we got you something because nobody really likes you and we didn't want you to find out" Nice brotherly love, right?
Kyle pulled out this nice box wrapped with hockey tape:
Out comes a jar of homemade pickles... so funny because Eva's aunt had just given them to Bret and Eva and Eva is in the background like "HEY... why did you give your brother our pickles???"
FINALLY, the real gift came out- tickets to Flames vs. Red Wings (Kyle's favorite team). He was pretty happy I would say! :)
Lastly, we somehow fit 30 candles and got them lit without burning the house down:
Originally, we were planning to have a family/friend birthday party the Saturday before for Kyle. Things were just not coming together... (don't get me started... seriously...) so we ended up not doing the party. We chose a bad weekend with Family Day on Monday among other reasons. I still wanted to do something fun so after picking Kyle's brain we decided to go to Laser Quest to get our laser tag on.
It was seriously SO MUCH FUN! There were 5 in our group with a whole bunch of teenagers, but who cares. Kyle and I haven't been since we were dating 5 years ago and apparently didn't remember how great it was running and dodging about in the dark with guns. This will definitely be a repeat for us- maybe after Nixon is born. :)
(PS- only 28 more days!)
Anyway, hope you had a great birthday babe!!!
