Catching up...

Hi. Long time, no blog. Ya... not happy about it, but I have a hard time finding the time and energy to do it. One thing that has kept us busy these past 2 months is SOCCER! Meet... most of... the Red Raptors:
We signed Deak up for soccer and could save half the fee if we volunteered. SO... we did. Kyle was the Coach and I was the Team Manager. Didn't really mean to have 2 jobs, but it worked out ok. Will Kyle save the $80 and be the coach again next year??? Not a chance. :) Maybe when the kids are a bit older and more into not chasing each other in circles and running to their parents every 3 seconds. But we will volunteer in another position to save the money. Deakon had a blast and he is a good little player... when he can keep those elbows to himself. He really enjoyed scoring and seeing all his little soccer buddies. We played EVERY Monday and Wednesday May 2nd-June 27th with a tournament on a Saturday in June. 17 games for 4 year olds? I think it was about 7 too many. Mondays and Wednesdays became really hard for our family. Kyle switched schedules for those 17 days and so we would get up most days and take him at 6:45 so we could use the car and he would get off at 5, home by 5:15, quick dinner, and then out the door so we could be there before 6. Home by 7 and bedtime became stressful because Wednesdays Kyle was right out the door again for Young Men's. We don't do well with time crunches. It turns into a big arguing contest. I think next year when the stress of being RIGHT on time and planning practice/game time will make the season lots of fun. You live and learn. Anyway, done with my rant. Here are more pics.

The kids got medals, water bottles, and free swimming passes to the local pool at the tournament. They also had a free bouncy house, BBQ, and face painting to keep the kids occupied between games. The kids had fun. Sadly, it was the same day as our ward primary singing service project so I missed lots of the fun. Oh... a little video in case you were wondering what I forced Nixon to do during the games. He wasn't allowed to roam free because instead of playing on the playground or running around on the open grass, he would run onto the field. He wanted to play so bad.

What else is new with the Gerrie family?

We had decided to not go to Utah in July for various reasons and apparently everyone started talking at family dinner, which ended in my sister, Debbie, calling up and offering to come and get the boys and I! So, she will be here a week from tomorrow to whisk us off for 10 days or so and I am very excited to see everyone!!!

Nixon is at such a fun and frustrating stage. He is climbing on and into EVERYTHING. I can't keep up with keeping this place Nixon proof. I am always cleaning up a mess. His newest favorites are climbing up on the table or desk and playing in the toilet. So gross. He is constantly covered in cuts, bumps, and bruises, but it barely slows him down. He isn't saying much but that doesn't stop him from being loud. He basically only says da da and de don (daddy and Deakon). He has the best full arm waves and LOVES Barclay (grandma's dog). He is barely getting his 5th tooth and everyone in the house knows about it. He can be one cranky buddy.

Deakon is having fun fun fun testing any and all of the boundaries we have set. He asks a billion questions a day about everything. Today we had a big discussion about what happens to our bodies when we die. It was be so hard because I really have to watch how much info I give him so he doesn't obsess and get scared "in the dark of the night" (I was tossing and turning)- sorry Anastasia flashback. He cracks us up. Last night Kyle had him convinced that we were going to name the baby Palmer (absolutely not) and we had a vote during dinner. He was so excited to go along with Dad and kept yelling, "Boys stick together" and "Boys rule and girls lose" in the middle of high fiving Kyle.

Baby Quinn... ya, that is what I still call her... is doing good. She is making me into a cranky, crazy, tired, emotional Mommy. I REALLY hope it goes away. I can't deal with all of these hormones. I am ready to feel like me again. I am 27 weeks now and can't wait to be done. I know as soon as she gets here though I will want her back in. I just can't win. Shoulda thought about that in January... youknowwhatimean... stole that from you. Ya, you Cathy. Youknowwhatimean?

Ok, I am now boring myself with how long this is getting. Better post soon so I can keep it shorter and sweeter.

Peace

Ha ha ha! Ang, I'm glad you blogged. They kinda remind me of all your elementary, middle, and high school letters we'd write to each other. :) Good times!
