Fruit Galore

For a few weeks in March, we completely jumped off the fruit and veggie train. I had to eat gluten for some testing and so I was concentrating on eating as many glutenous foods as possible... Now that I am done with all of that, I need to get back on track with eating a variety of food. This morning Deakon and I needed something fun to do and I decided a smoothie was the perfect thing. He helped put everything in and was so excited that I let him push all of the buttons. It was the perfect pick-me-up after doing a spinning class at the crack of dawn. I will share the ingredients I used today- my smoothies are never the same and I don't really measure anything. It makes it more fun to use what you have sitting around the kitchen.

This smoothie contained:

a banana

about a cup of frozen mixed berries

milk

orange juice - plus calcium (the only way to go when you don't like milk)

half a cup of raspberry yogurt

a handful of SPINACH- yes spinach... you can't taste it at all AND if makes you feel good because you used it... thanks for the idea Doyles!

a spoonful of ground flax seed

and half of a tomato!

Yum. I think I need to have more smoothies. I usually buy the prepackaged kind from costco where all you have to do is add milk. Your sounded much more tastier.

That's a great idea. I always run out of things to do for snacks. Your baby looks so grown up, it's crazy. Call me sometime when you have time to chat.

Wow! Talk about adventurous smoothie skills! I would have never thought to put a tomato in a smoothie. I'll have to try it.
