I can't believe my little buddy boy is 3 years old! His birthday was last monday (the 15th), but we decided to celebrate it the Saturday before so we would have more time to play all day! The morning started out with us at Chuck E. Cheese. Grandma, Papa, Bret, Jenn and Justin came to play with us for a bit. Deakon had an ok time... unfortunately, he was kind of in between the 2 areas. The "baby" rides were too boring for him and the "big kid" games were too challenging. They do have a little play area (like at McDonalds) which I know he would love, but he is still not quite tall enough to climb up at the beginning so if there isn't another kid to help him out, he gets frustrated and climbs back down. He tried to beg me to come up with him (which I totally have done at McDonalds... hey, it was just us and I promised him he could play. McDonald's probably thought I was a crazy person and would break the thing, but we made it out with no broken slides :) ha) Anywho, it turned out fine because Deakon didn't have any complaints on our way out. After playing, we went and met Ron and Doreen for lunch at Chili's and then headed to the mall to window shop and buy some batteries for Deakon's new toys before heading back to Cochrane for nap time.
Playing games while waiting for everyone to show up:
Ron, Bret, Eva, and Doreen:
Kyle trying to get a turn in. They only let 6 people per lane so Deakon took most of our turns. It's a good thing you get 3 balls per turn. :)
Jumping high fives... so funny:

Attempt at a family pic... you know how those go:
Bret and Deakon:

Sunday was a big day as well. Because Bret's birthday is the 17th, he and Deakon had a joint birthday dinner. Everytime, I would ask Deakon what kind of cake he wanted, he would ALWAYS tell me chocolate (which I put in his head...) with "lots of sprinkles like a donut" I let him pick out 2 different kinds of sprinkles and on Sunday when he woke up from his nap, he and Kyle went to town decorating while I tried to keep up frosting. He was so darn proud of his sprinkles. I actually made a chocolate cake the week before so I talked him into have white cupcakes with lemon frosting (so good if I say so myself- I have a really good GF cupcake recipe)
Singing Happy Birthday to Bret and Deakon:
Blowing out the candles:
Opening gifts- love these shoes that Kyle picked up for him. Deak calls them his bowling shoes. :)
